Natasha and Candi

Make Me Over Beauty Truck

Owners

These two sisters have been in the beauty business for the past 8 years. Natasha is a licensed psychotherapist and business owner. She left her city job. She was formerly the head Director at the Crime Victims Advocate Program at the Queens District Attorney’s Office. She shared her vision with her sister in law, whom she affectionately refers to as her sister, Candi. Candi is married and a mother of two. She left her 9 to 5 at one of the largest five accounting firms in the world. Then, she took the leap into business.

Their beauty bar, Make Me Over Beauty Bar was a brick and mortar for 7 years. It was the first black, female, owned business on the ground level of the main Jamaica Avenue. Then they decided to turn it mobile. These sisters came up with an ingenious way to keep their business afloat and make the dollars make sense. A mobile beauty truck! This allowed them to keep their current staff and eliminating their rising rent cost. The sisters believe that their truck is one of the first of this caliber in the area. It will probably be a model for other aspiring beauty businesses. It will also inspire small business owners alike.
